31 August 2017: The horrific scene was discovered in Westmoreland County, and the man who police say stabbed the woman multiple times then hanged himself minutes later inside a closet in the home. KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh is reporting the incident is a murder-suicide, with victim Ashley Ugoletti, 27, stabbed to death at the hands of Nguyen Tran, 31, who lived in the residence in Mt. Pleasant Borough.
Nguyen Tran, 31, is accused of fatally stabbing Ashley Ugoletti, 27, inside his Westmoreland County home. He worked as a nail tech at a nearby salon, while she worked as a stripper in a Pittsburgh club and was facing prostitution and drug charges at the time of her death. screen shot
Both KDKA and the Observer-Reporter newspaper report the two were not in a relationship, but police have stopped short of saying why they were together.
Perhaps their connection is related to their respective lines of work.
Ugoletti had worked as a dancer at Blush, a Pittsburgh strip club, the newspaper writes. Meanwhile, KDKA reports Tran worked as a nail tech at Ultra Nails in the area.
Tran’s family found the grisly scene Wednesday and called police.
Ugoletti’s stabbed body was found in the basement of the house, police told KDKA. And Tran died after hanging himself minutes after killing Ugoletti. His body was found in a closet.
Last month, Ugoletti and another dancer at Blush allegedly offered an undercover cop sex for $1,200 on his birthday. For another $100, they’d throw in some cocaine. She was facing prostitution and drug distribution charges in the case.
The investigation continues.
